CHRISTMAS 2024

Joan REYNOLDS Fogarty and friends had their Christmas gathering on 5 December.  They enjoyed each other's company and lunch at Moxies.  This wonderful group of friends have been together since Kindergarten and still meet up about three times a year.  That's real friendship!  

Joan has sent a photo and a video of the friends.  Joan told me that the video was meant to be just a photo.  I guess somebody in the group is like me - often pushing the wrong button! 😄 However, at the moment, I cannot get the video to open but I will keep trying. If I have any success with that, I will add it to this post.

AN EXTRA SPECIAL LADY

As we are all aware, every St Patrick's girl is special. 😉 Today I am posting about an extra special St Patrick's girl, Helen Gushue Mallard.

Helen Gushue is a second generation St Patrick's Girl.  Her late mother, Molly Flynn Gushue, also attended St Patrick's Convent Schools.

Helen married Tom Mallard and together they raised a beautiful family of eight daughters and five sons. Helen sent her eight girls to St Patrick's.  Her daughters were being educated at the best girls' school so, of course, her sons had to be enrolled at the best boys' school, Holy Cross!

The Mallards are a very talented family. They have been blessed with good singing voices and the ability to play many musical instruments. The girls all sang in classroom choirs and several, including Liz, Louie, Cathy and Brenda, sang in Sr Brendan's award winning Glee Clubs. 

Helen was born to Bill and Molly Flynn Gushue on 24th October 1928.  This year Helen celebrated her 96th Birthday. Helen's daughter, Mary Lou (Louie) Tucker, sent a couple of pictures of Helen and her girls.

DINING IN STYLE

 I love posting photos of St Patrick's Girls enjoying themselves.  Today, it's a photo from Sheila Bulger Power.  On Wednesday, Sheila and her sister, Mary Bulger Corcoran, had a very pleasant dining experience at the Sheraton. Sheila, Mary and their late sister, Kaye Bulger Buckingham, all attended St Patrick's Convent Schools.

MORE PICTURES FROM THE GRADS OF 73/74

This is another selection of photos from the 50th anniversary and 65th Birthday celebrations of this amazing group of classmates and friends. If you haven't been inside the school since it became Lakecrest, you will see quite a few changes.  One photo that I was delighted to see was the one of the ORIGINAL FLOORING!  Well, I guess that is down to Sr Immaculata.  Day after day, year after year, she stood at the front door and woe betide you if you didn't have your Rubber/Gaiter bag!  Plus, her Grade Six Class always had to keep the corridors clean and shining, mopping away before classes started. 😇 I am pretty sure I am not the only one who can tell a few tales about that!  

WOW!  That's the original flooring.😲

Thanks again, ladies.  I'll share the rest of the photos another day.  You definitely gave us a great tour of dear old St Patrick's with all it's changes. 

OH THOSE ST PATRICK'S GIRLS!

I am delighted to say those St Patrick's Girls are at it again! They just can't stop getting together and that is a beautiful thing.  I just wish I could be with them.😔

This picture was sent by Sheila BULGER Power and Pat HURLEY  McDonald. On 13 November 2024, they and some of their St Patrick's friends got together for a happy lunch at the Capital Hotel.  Here they are enjoying each others company - and the food too of course.

A DOUBLE CELEBRATION

Due to circumstances beyond my control, this post is long overdue and I apologize to Christine and friends for the delay. 

In September, Christine and her amazing group of schoolfriends held their 2024 gathering.  Christine told me it was a combined 50th Anniversary of graduating from St Patrick's  (1973-74)and a 65th Birthday party.

They certainly took loads of photos and, although Christine said I could chose some to post, I just can't do that.  I want to post them all! As there are so many pictures, I will post some today and others in days to come.  So here goes with the first ones!

These wonderful women are proof that School Friends are friends for life and that 'Once a St Patrick's Girl - always a St Patrick's Girl!'
