SAFETY PATROL MONITORS

I am indebted to Dora Reid for this post.

In the 1980s, Dora was one of the Safety Patrol Monitors who regularly guided pupils over the Cross Walk on their way to and from school. Dora and fellow Monitor, Nicole Molloy, were selected to represent St Patrick's at a Cross Walk Safety Conference in Ottawa. At that time, Dora was in Grade 6 and her teacher was Mrs Warren. We are delighted to share Dora's newspaper clipping here.

TOGETHER AGAIN!

Those St Patrick's girls are at it again!  Coming home, getting together with old friends and generally having a great time.  And how absolutely wonderful it all is!

 

Pat  HURLEY McDonald has sent me  photographs of a recent happy reunion.  Pat tells me that Cathy HEARN Green was home from Ottawa and a group of her school friends got together on 15th September for  lunch at Papa's Pier 17.  Pat said that a great time was had by all & I have no trouble believing that.  I bet excited chatter and laughter topped the menu that day!

It seems someone has brought old snaps.

 

We'll get around to looking at the menu eventually!

So much to say and so little time to say it!

Thanks for sharing this, Pat.  Judging by all the smiling faces, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the next reunion isn't already in the planning stages.   

AWARD WINNING CHOIR

 

St Patrick's Glee Club, April 1973

Were you a member of this award winning choir?  If so, I am in urgent need of your help.   The good folks at Presentation Archives inform me that this picture was taken at CBC Studios and the date on the photo is April 1973.  They are anxious to identify the students in this photo. The Pianist is Miss Eleanor Lawton, the Choir Director is Sr Mary Brendan Lynch and the Principal is Sr Mary Luke Parsley.  This Glee Club was a very talented one &, through its excellence, won a trip to Ottawa. 

 

We would be very grateful if you would help us out with the names of the girls. 

 

Also, do you have, or do you know of anyone who has, a recording of when you sang in any concerts, choirs, glee clubs, etc?   Our friends at Presentation Archives are gathering up any musical recordings or videos and digitizing them. So, if you have any recordings or videos of your choirs, they would be very grateful if they could borrow them.

"Wow - I am happy to find this page, and to see comments from Yvonne (Cullen) mentioning Roxanne. I was at St. Pat's for grades 3-5 (1969-1972), starting in the portables with Miss Sears (I think). We lived at 199 Lemarchant Road, which is now gone. I live in Ottawa now. I used to write a friend from Lemarchant, asking about Roxanne, because just before we moved to Ontario (my dad was in the military and we were transferred) one of the Cullen girls was hit by a car on Lemarchant - I saw it happen and it has never left my memory.

St. Pat's was a beautiful time for me. It was one of my most memorable schools (numbering 14 before I graduated high school). I absolutely lived in the library with Sister Redempta (spelling?), reading voraciously anything I could get my hands on. I was in the Choir and we sang at Kiwanis, but I mouthed the words as I was terrified to mess up. I loved the concerts. I was a Girl Guide. I was so curious about the nuns and their residence.

I visited the Church and grounds this summer. Such a good feeling washed over me there.

Would love to hear from anyone who remembers me, and I will keep up here to see what other memories people have.
