CLASSMATES TOGETHER AGAIN!

The St Patrick's Girls are at it again - getting together, sharing memories and generally just enjoying the company of girlhood friends.  They certainly know the value of friends and take great pleasure in their long lasting friendships.

 

We have received news of two such get togethers.

 

Joan Fogarty has sent the following:

We get together three times a year: Spring, Fall, and Christmas."

 

This band of schoolfriends are extremely loyal and suppport each other in sadness and in joy.  They certainly are an inspiration and I hope I will be hearing news of their meetings when we are all well into our "Golden years"!

 

Donna Constantine Walsh sent news of a gathering organised by Donna and classmate Christine Rossiter Butler.  Their group graduated from St Patrick's in 1974.  Some of them met up at Donna's home on Sunday 31st May and Donna has sent us this photo of the group.  Donna has given us a list of the names of the ladies in the photo (all maiden names).

LOVE THAT BANNER!

I had to post this picture too because I wanted a close-up of that wonderful banner.  I love it.  I believe I am correct in saying that it was specially made by Donna.  Nice one, Donna!

 

Well, ladies, once again you have all shown that friendships forged in childhool can last a lifetime.  Thank you Joan, Donna and Christine for sharing with us.  I look forward to hearing about future gatherings and seeing all those smiling faces.  The very best of luck to each and every one of you.

Reunion August 1987

TWENTY FIFTH REUNION

This is another post which I own to Enid O'Brien.  Enid is a treasure-house of pictures and stories concerning St Patrick's and I am greatly indebted to her for sharing them with us on this blog. 

 

I don't know exactly when this reunion took place but I would say it was sometime in the late 1970s.  If someone could enlighten me on the dates or give me any more information on the reunion, the girls, etc, I would be grateful.  You can e-mail me at mcallistersmith@gmail.com

GREAT AUNTS WHO WERE REALLY GREAT AND A SCHOOL REUNION

I have had some interesting e-mails concerning this blog.  The senders have given me their permission to share them with you in a post.

The first one is from Eleanor Dalton and it concerns a post that I did on 4th April 2011, RAISING MONEY FOR THE NEW SCHOOL, (click here) and I am very pleased to post Eleanor's e-mail below.

I enjoy this blog very much as well as interesting. Looked at a photo of your mother with Sister Agnes and Sister Josephine.  These two sisters are my GREAT AUNTS; they also had another sister (Sister Zita).  My grandmother was Margaret Hallernan and married John Sutton. My mother Bessie also had two sisters in the Mercy Order, Sister Mary Andrea and Sister Mary Edmund. I will look for some pictures I think I may have one picture with all three Sisters.

CLASS OF 1960 AT THE 1987 REUNION

St Patrick's girls just love getting together and enjoying the company of old friends.  A grand reunion, for all St Patrick's Girls, was held in 1987.  This reunion was a big success and several of the alumni who attended were well into their 80s.

REUNION 1987

I hope I won't find myself in hot water over this post.  The photographs are from the Souvenir  Booklet from the 1987 Reunion and I hope that nobody objects to their use here.  If there is a copyright problem, please let me know and I will remove them immediately.  I hope that won't be necessary because the photos will surely bring back some memories.

REUNION 2010

In August 2010, a group of St Patrick's girls held a reunion. It was fifty years since they left St Patrick's so there was a lot of laughter and a few tears as old friends and classmates got together. I have been sent some pictures of this happy occasion so I will post some of them for all to enjoy.

By the way, if you are planning a reunion, get together or other function involving St Patrick's, if you let me know the details, I will happily post them here.

This is the reunion cake.  Mary Kennedy has informed me that this beautiful cake was made by Tom Greene.  Tom is the obviously talented husband of Florence Furey.  You got a winner there Florence!  Thanks for the information Mary. 

Two popular teachers, Miss Fagan and Miss Howard, cut the reunion cake.

Doreen Walsh  provided some excellent entertainment with her singing and guitar playing.  My first memory of Doreen entertaining us goes back to  Miss Murphy's Kindergarten Class.  Doreen entertained us then with her singing but she wasn't playing guitar.  She played the Spoons and we thought she was amazing - which, of course, she was!

Entertainment was also provided by Mary Kennedy and her Line Dancing Friends.  Even after fifty years, St Patrick's Girls can still cut it!
