FRIENDS TOGETHER AGAIN

Maureen O'Brien Roach, Kay Johnson Parsons, Carmel Hayes, Diane Mulcahy Jackman, Mary Johnson Godsland, Phyllis Reardon, Brenda Murphy and Janet McGrath Crane, a group of St Patrick's girls who, though not all in the same class, went around together while growing up in St John's. Their bond of friendship proved strong and they have done their best  to meet up every year.  Sadly, Brenda passed away in 2009 and she is much missed by her friends.  Diane now lives in Calgary but recently spent some time at home.  Of course,  that meant a happy little reunion for those of the group who could make it.  Mary Johnson Godsland sent this photo of the ladies.

It is always inspiring to see how friendship flourishes and survives despite the  years and the miles.  Thanks for sharing, Mary.  Please keep us up to date with any and all of your get-togethers.

ST PATRICK'S GIRLS AT JACK'S RESTAURANT

Getting together with school friends is still very important to former pupils of St Patrick's Convent Schools.  Joan Reynolds Fogarty sent us news on their latest gathering.  In May the ladies met for dinner at Jack's Restaurant in the Capital Hotel.

Thanks very much, Joan, for sharing this with us. Don't forget to send us news of your next meeting.  You ladies are just amazing!

Joan also informed us that a stalwart of this class, Catherine Corbett Stanley, lost her beloved husband, Winston, in early May.  We send our deepest sympathy to Catherine and to all Winston's family and friends.  May he rest in peace.

CLASSMATES TOGETHER AGAIN!

The St Patrick's Girls are at it again - getting together, sharing memories and generally just enjoying the company of girlhood friends.  They certainly know the value of friends and take great pleasure in their long lasting friendships.

We have received news of two such get togethers.

Joan Fogarty has sent the following:
"We got together Wednesday night (27th May) for our Spring dinner. Here is a photo."

This band of schoolfriends are extremely loyal and suppport each other in sadness and in joy.  They certainly are an inspiration and I hope I will be hearing news of their meetings when we are all well into our "Golden years"!

Donna Constantine Walsh sent news of a gathering organised by Donna and classmate Christine Rossiter Butler.  Their group graduated from St Patrick's in 1974.  Some of them met up at Donna's home on Sunday 31st May and Donna has sent us this photo of the group.  Donna has given us a list of the names of the ladies in the photo (all maiden names).

LOVE THAT BANNER!
I had to post this picture too because I wanted a close-up of that wonderful banner.  I love it.  I believe I am correct in saying that it was specially made by Donna.  Nice one, Donna!

Well, ladies, once again you have all shown that friendships forged in childhool can last a lifetime.  Thank you Joan, Donna and Christine for sharing with us.  I look forward to hearing about future gatherings and seeing all those smiling faces.  The very best of luck to each and every one of you.

On Monday, 18th November 2013, a Get Together Lunch was held at Papa's Restaurant, Churchill Square.  From all reports, a great number of St Patrick's girls attended and a good time was had by all.  I am indebted to Patricia Hurley McDonald and Mary Johnson Godsland for these photographs.  If anyone else would like to share their photos of this event, please send them to me at mcallistersmith@gmail.com and I will be delighted to post them for you.  Everyone enjoys hearing about school friends and classmates and seeing pictures of them today so, don't be shy, we would love to hear from you!

A GET TOGETHER!

This is an e-mail I received from Doreen Walsh Noseworthy.    Unfortunately, I can’t be there but all you lucky ladies who are able to attend should get in touch with DOREEN BY FRIDAY, 15TH NOVEMBER.  I wish I could be there and I send “hello” & “love” & “best wishes” to all my St Patrick’s friends.  Have a great time, everyone!

Doreen's e-mail:
“Hi everyone! A few of us got together last week and thought it would be nice if we could get some of the crowd together for lunch someday soon. I know this will not include those of you who are at a great distance, but it's easier to send the email to everyone on the list.....we may be getting older, but still not too stunned (ha!).

We have decided on lunch at PAPA'S RESTAURANT, ROWAN ST., CHURCHILL SQUARE, AT NOON, ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 18TH. We have a dining area all to ourselves - The Red Room. However, I WILL NEED THE EXACT NUMBER OF THOSE ATTENDING NOT LATER THAN FRIDAY, NOV. 15TH. We have been getting a lot of requests for an event like this so we're hoping to see many of you there. IF YOU ARE AWARE OF ANYONE WHO IS NOT ON THE MAILING LIST BUT WOULD LIKE TO GO, PLEASE CONTACT THEM AND PASS ALONG THE INVITATION.

Hope this message finds all of you well. Looking forward to seeing many of you next week.

Cheers to all,

Doreen”
