I had to do this separately from the rest of the post because, for some unknown reason (at least "unknown" to me 😅) it just would not come up. I hope it works this time because this is an amazing piece of St Patrick's musical history. I love it and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do.
Hi. Actually it was 50 years ago, although not wanting to admit it. I sang with the glee club.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Anne Marie Norris.
I think we recorded it at Atlantic Music on Prescott Street.
DeleteThanks Anne Marie. Yes, I know it was 50 years ago. It was to commemorate the silver anniversary of Newfoundland's entry into Confederation with Canada. It is a real treasure and you can be very proud to have been a part of that choir.
DeleteSuch great memories with Sr. Brendan and the Glee Club. The highlight was performing in Ottawa and of course the wonderful friendships. I remember when we recorded this song.
DeleteHi Sharon. Can you remember who wrote the song? I would love to post about it but I don't have any details. If you could fill me in on it and how it all came about I would be very grateful. Thanks and all the best to you and yours.
DeleteI started with Sister Brendan when I was 9 and I’m 67 …. She started with musicals The Fairy Cobbler etc….she created a beautiful glee club and won many awards for the school …. Denise Fisher
ReplyDeleteSr Brendan was a wonderful musician and she did great things with the music scene at St Patrick's. However, you girls also deserve credit because you had talent to begin with and you must all have worked very hard to achieve the level you did. So congratulations to all of you. Sr Brendan and her girls did St Patrick's proud! Thank you.
DeleteSorry Beth Anne, This was 1974, please correct
ReplyDeleteHi, I think the heading has mislead you, sorry. The twenty five years ago does not refer to when this recording was made, It refers to the twenty five years since the LAST St Patrick's School closed, in June 1999. I have been doing a series of photos that have been previously posted on the School Blog to commemorate that twenty five years. This is the sixth post in that series. I hope to do several posts a week in the series until the end of June. Scroll back and have a look at the first five posts. You never know what you will find there. Enjoy!
DeleteI remember this very well it felt very special to sing at the Confederation Building and to do this album. I stil remember every word. Best time of my Childhood with this Choir and Sr. Brendan. Love this Thank you for sending this ❤️❤️
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome. Glad you enjoyed it.
DeleteMy sisters and I worked on this album. Three of us also went to Ottawa to perform and win the Madison Trophy
ReplyDeleteBrenda, Patsy and Peggy Keating
Wow! That is really something. You can all be so proud and I know it must be a cherished memory for you three. Do you have any pictures of that special time? Or how about a picture of the three of you now? I would love to do a post about the three sisters. Thanks for the interesting bit of information. You can email me at mcallistersmith@gmail.com and I hope to hear from you.
